Le Butcherettes rocked The Warfield on December 6, 2011 as they opened for Iggy and The Stooges. The garage rock trio’s set included songs from their debut album, Sin Sin Sin. Led by frontwoman Teri Gender Bender, thrashing, dancing, and screaming while sporting a blood-spattered apron, the band’s energy and music captivated the punk rock crowd. - CLICK FOR MORE / Photos by Pete Rosenblum for The Owl Magazine

Remezcla: Q&A: Make no mistake, Le Butcherettes are no side show

Teri Gender Bender of Le Butcherettes has undeniably become one of the most exciting performers in rock right now. Since winning both “Best New Artist” & “Best Punk Record” honors at Mexico’s Indie-O awards in 2009, Teri and Le Butcherettes have taken their butcher rock diatribe to new heights. Under the mentorship of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Le Butcherettes have tightened their sound into a full-bodied, well layered, distorted sound while maintaining Teri’s unbridled delivery and live stage presence which has earned the band rave reviews and almost unanimous acclaim.
Remezcla caught up with this rising star before taking the stage at The Warfield opening for Iggy & The Stooges in support of their latest album Sin, Sin, Sin.

LA WEEKLY Names its TOP 5 Live Shows in Los Angeles #3

3. Iggy and the Stooges, Le Bucherettes
Hollywood Palladium, December 1st
“A Stooges show is unlike any other,” wrote Henry Rollins after their recent performance. “It’s like the chase scene in an action film. It’s like watching a boxing match that goes the distance. It is not just another night out — it is a chapter of your life.” Indeed, a Stooges show is not to be missed — and not this one in particular At age 64, Iggy can still bring it as strongly as ever.
Also intriguing was the guest billing of up-and-coming noise rock trio Le Butcherettes. Showcasing the theatrics and blood-stained clothing of frontwoman Teri Gender Bender, the in-your-face group had no trouble in pumping up an older crowd, providing a well-received segue into Iggy’s performance.
Rock NYC: Le Butcherettes at the Palladium on 12/1/11 Reviewed

Opening for Iggy and the Stooges must be damn difficult and intimidating, but I am not sure anything can intimidate Teri Gender Bender, frontwoman of the strangely-named band, Le Butcherettes.
But like Iggy, Teri Gender Bender (born Teri Suarez) is much more than a front woman, she is the center of attention, she is Le Butcherettes alone, flying on stage, even doing one of the most memorable stage dives I have ever seen, elegantly plunging as if she was in front of a swimming pool, than suddenly reappearing and climbing back on stage before we were aware of it. She was so volatile it was hard to follow her antics, and after a few songs, I came to the conclusion she must also be a little crazy.

Before The Stooges made their entrance, the Palladium and its drink lines were swarming with L.A.’s leather clad elite. Openers Le Butcherettes were quickly able to capitalize.
It didn’t take long for the trio to capture the attention of the then-near-capacity crowd, thanks in no small part to frontwoman Teri Gender Bender. The petite powerhouse (and dead ringer for The Craft-era Fairuza Balk) appeared in signature punk regalia — stockings, a dollish dress, and an apron covered in blood. She busted some twisted dance moves — high kicks, arm flails, and one purposefully disastrous handstand — and went all sinister operatic on “Dress Off.”
She also danced with and serenaded the top half of a male mannequin. The mix of chaotic theatrics and punky noise rock worked wonders, and likely gained these three youngsters new fans in the process.
LA Weekly Feature: Le Butcherettes’ Teri Gender Bender is the most volatile woman in rock
“You love me, you love me and now you wanna kill me!” wails Teri Gender Bender of the band Le Butcherettes, as her long hair rocks violently back and forth. She leans back, farther and farther, until she falls over, still slashing at her electric guitar.
To the violent beat of the next song, “Dress Off,” she tumbles backward off the Troubadour stage and into the crowd for a few moments of surfing before she’s tossed back up. She sings a torrid and crazed vocal. Then Teri Gender Bender lifts her skirt to pee right on the stage, stomping and splashing the puddle in her fishnet stockings.
This show, which happened over the summer, wasn’t the first time Teri Gender Bender (born Teri Suarez) has peed on stage. She urinated out of rage, she says, last year in Mexico City, when Le Butcherettes shared a bill with “this French-Chilean singer” who was “treating me like I was just an opening band.” And then she did it again in June at an outdoor show in Arizona, apparently out of boredom. “The Troubadour was more an act of love,” she insists, and promises it will be the last time. “Pee doesn’t have to be bad. It can be graceful. I wanted the last time I peed onstage to be a positive feeling.”
Trust that no two Le Butcherettes shows are quite the same. (The group is basically made up of the 22-year-old Suarez, who writes the songs, and an oft-changing rhythm section.) At the trio’s record-release party for its debut album, Sin Sin Sin, at the Bootleg Theater in May, Suarez picked up scissors during the set and maniacally clipped her hair into severe bangs. In Seattle, for a club audience of maybe 20 people, she banged her head against a cymbal, causing blood to drip down her face. She continued to play. “In the moment, I tell myself you can’t stop,” she says, “because it’s your life that depends on it.”

Wishing Iggy Pop a Speedy Recovery. Shows RESCHEDULED

Sadly, the shows with Le Butcherettes in September with Iggy and The Stooges have to be rescheduled
Due to Iggy Pop’s injury sustained during The Stooges’ Aug 27th headline appearance in Romania, the band is forced to postpone their upcoming US shows.
After several days of rest at home the need for medical attention became apparent. Dr. Frank Smith of the Cayman Orthopedic Group has confirmed a pair of fractures in the metatarsals of the singer‘s left foot. Iggy has been asked to cool it for 6 - 8 weeks.
Says the singer: “I hate this, I hate like hell to cancel or postpone anything. I only saw the doctor because it hurt so ******* much and I couldn’t fix it myself. Please be patient, I am so excited about these dates on the left coast”
